What is VPN?

VPN means “virtual private network” It creates a secure network connection while using a public network and helps you hide your identity online so that someone else can’t track you online or steal your Data, so it’s very important to use VPN.

Virtual Private Network hide your IP Address by redirecting them through VPN Host. When you use the Internet with a VPN, VPN Server becomes the source of all your information so that your Internet service provider (ISP) and any third party, cannot see which websites you go online to or Data you send and receive online.

Types of VPN

There are two main types of remote Access and Site-to-site that you can understand as follows.

1) Remote VPN

Remote Access VPN lets users connect their resources and services to a private network to remotely Access.

The Internet is used to establish a relationship between the user’s computer and the private network. This connection is private and secure. Remote Access VPN is available for both domestic and business users.

2) Site To Site VPN

Site-to-site VPN also known as router to-router VPN is often used by large companies. Companies or organizations use site-to-site VPN with branches in different locations to connect to the network in another place.

Types of VPN Protocols

I find a lot of protocols that VPN use at your own level depending on your needs as well as what protocol you want to use.

1) IPSec

IPSec protects Internet protocol communication by verifying each session and encrypting each Data packet during the connection.

IPSec runs in 2 modes:

(I) Transport Mode
(Ii) Tunneling Mode

2) L2TP

L2TP builds a tunnel between two connection points. IPSec protocol maintains encrypting secure communication between Tunnel.

3) PPTP

Point-to-point protocols are used to encrypt Data between connections. Pptp, the most popular VPN protocol, has been used since the early days of Windows. In addition to Windows, VPN can also use Pptp on Mac and Linux.

4) OpenVPN

OpenVPN, an open-source VPN, is used to create point-to-point and site-to-site connections. It uses a traditional security protocol based on the SSL/TLS protocol.

5) SSH

Secure Shell, or SSH, generates VPN tunnel through which Data is transferred. It also ensures that encryption is used. A client can create ssh connections. The location from the remote Server is transferred from Data through the port encrypted tunnel.

6) SSl & TLS

SSl (Secure Socket Layer), and TLS (Transport Layer Security), create a VPN connection where the web browser acts as a man.

This allows users to access the restricted app and not the entire network. Many online shopping sites use SSl and TLS protocols. Since SSl and TLS are integrated into web browsers, it is easy to switch to SSl. SSl use “Https” instead of “Http” at the beginning of the connection Url.
